Overview

The Google Analytics SDK for Windows 8 and Windows Phone makes it easy for developers to collect user engagement data form their apps using the new Universal Analytics Google Analytics service. This document will provide an overview of the value of the SDK as well as a guide to getting started measuring your app using a single property ID and EasyTracker.

Introduction

The Google Analytics SDK for Windows 8 and Windows Phone makes it easy for developers to collect user engagement data from their apps. Developers can then use Google Analytics reports to measure:
  • The number of active users are using their applications.
  • From where in the world the application is being used.
  • Adoption and usage of specific features.
  • In-app purchases and transactions.
  • The number and type of application crashes.
  • And many other useful metrics.

Additionally, the Google Analytics SDK for Windows 8 and Windows Phone gives you the tools to monitor the success of mobile marketing campaign by providing end-to-end visibility into the performance of your marketing channels, from store installs through in-app purchases and transactions.

Before you Begin

Before begin integrating the Google Analytics SDK for Windows 8 and Windows Phone, make sure you have the following:
  • Visual Studio 2012
  • NuGet Package Manager (typically installed with Visual Studio)
  • Google Analytics SDK for Windows 8 and Windows Phone (this project) -- downloaded via NuGet
  • A Windows 8 store app (Xaml or HTML) or Windows Phone (7.1 and/or 8) app that you want to add Google Analytics to.
  • A free Google Analytics app property and profile. Note: your GA app property must be one of the newer app properties created on March 2013 or later.
